Mobile Clinic
The success of our program has achieved nation-wide attention, and we are
very happy with the results so far. Soon after our work started, we were
visited by the Mayors of other regions who had heard of our pioneering work.

Initially we bundled our vet and
equipment into our private car and went to the other towns to
set up a make-shift operation room. This was not entirely satisfactory,
but it spurred us to think about obtaining a purpose-built Mobile
Clinic which would allow us to reach further afield,
and at the same time continue with work at the Centre. We are
again indebted to the Marchig
Animal Welfare Trust for being the main sponsor of
the Mobile Clinic and for its continuing support for the project.
Our campaign reached a conclusion in March 2002 with the delivery
of a first-class Isuzu vehicle, self-sufficient and fitted out
with all the necessary equipment to operate on 2 animals at
a time.
Since receiving the Mobile Clinic, we have visited 18
towns (we have returned to several towns for further
sterilizations), travelled over 3000 Kms, and treated 462 dogs
and 246 cats. Our program for 2003 is filling up.
We have been ably assisted from time to time by
veterinarians from overseas, and (we like to think),
they have enjoyed their stay with us;-
Karen Ozel – Scottish born Vet now living in Denizli,
Turkey, and endeavoring to introduce a Neuter and Return program
there.
Larissa Neubert – from Berlin, who with her daughters,
Katya and Jenya, have brought a new meaning to the word “working
holiday”.
Dr. Med. Vet. Andreas Schemel – from Brighton, but Austrian
born, with a keen sense of humour and a no-nonsense attitude
to his work.
Gergana Tscherneva – from Sofia, Bulgaria (the finances
for her visit were provided by the German Animal Society, Tierhilfe
Suden, Munich)
We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your dedication
and professionalism. |
