About
Us
The Fethiye Friends of Animals Association is a registered Turkish
Association (No.48009027) founded in June 2000 in the City of
Fethiye, which is situated on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey
known as the Blue Coast.
Its aims are to care for stray dogs and cats by implementing
a Neuter and Return program, which is a humane no-kill method
that eventually reduces the number of strays that are endemic
in most Mediterranean countries to acceptable levels. This then
results in a harmonious attitude between the local population
and the animals.
The Association is managed by a retired business lady, Mrs.
Perihan Agnelli, who runs the Centre with a full-time
paid staff of 2
veterinarians, and 4
wardens. The running of the Centre is entirely dependant
on donations from the public for its 68,000 Euros annual budget,
and is overseen by its Board
of Associates who serve two-year terms.
We are indebted to the Marchig Animal Welfare Trust (www.marchigawt.org)
which is our main sponsor. The Trust’s Chairman and Founder,
Madame
Jeanne Marchig, takes a close interest in our work.
We have Associate Membership status with WSPA
and RSPCA
International. |
